Kiwi Bakery in Magna - a review

We've lived in Magna under 2 years.
The first year we focused on school, yard, redoing the house... didn't do a lot of neighborhood scouting.

Magna, however, has a few hidden treasures on Magna Main (2700 S.)
Our favorite is The Kiwi Bakery.

We also liked the Pizza Stop, but due to a recent change in ownership they have cut half their menu and changed a few of the recipes - drastically reducing my families love for them.

Now their full name is, The Kiwi Bakery and Fish & Chips.
They & their recipes hale from New Zealand, foods like meat pies & sausage rolls can be found here!
Great food for very low rates!

Their staff is friendly, personable & the restaurant is always clean.

I LOVE their pasties!

This has two chocolate donuts for the kids, one cinnamon roll for papa & one cream puff for mama.
Also for lunch the next day is a steak & mushroom meat pie for papa.

~~~~~~~~~
Now I have made a few rather drastic changes to my food blog - first I took it off of the dynamic view - it had tons of views a day but no new followers, no new people commenting, liking ect.
So I switched back to "normal" blogger.
Thus I was able to add two new fun features to my blog!
A - Follow me on Pinterest - button
&
A new super cool, print or pdf. button, that can be found at the bottom of each blog.
Great things about the new print feature is that it allows you to remove photos, personal commentary - allowing you control of what you print and what size!
Genius!
The Cheesecake Factory ~ A Review
 The Cheesecake Factory, Murray, Utah.
For our 10th anniversary, hubby and I choose to dine together (childless!) at our local cheesecake factory.
Now I have some feed back and of course photos to share.
The first photo is my hubby's course.
It was fantastic.
Normally I don't really rave on food places ~ especially ones priced so above other normal dining.
However, besides having amazing food the cheesecake factory does a few other things RIGHT!
Lighting, music levels, plate sizes and color schematics are done well.
The color and presentation of the food, the quality of every piece that came out of the kitchen.
But what really throws them over the top?
The service.
Not kidding.
They have one person dedicated to an area.
I mean DEDICATED. He/she does not leave that area, not to turn in order slips, get food, extra plates, bread nothing.
Each server has a computer and 2-4 wait staff that support him in the running, fetching, cleaning, greeting, drink filling... well you get the idea.
This way you never have a hard time getting service.
You are never forgotten.
You never have to flag someone else down.
They are the best of the best of the best that the restaurant has to offer.
They are the "career" servers. The ones that made it up the chain, training and were promoted to the spot.
This is what really puts Cheesecake Factory over and above so many of the other restaurants.
Yes the food is amazing, yes the ambiance is great, but if you have a bad wait staff it won't matter.
One bad customer service experience leaves many people bitter toward a place.
This company should have 5 stars on service alone.
They really do know how to treat a customer right!
I highly recommend this restaurant, in any city, in any state - anywhere because its clear how much the corporation values excellence!
Rock Creek Pizza - Restaraunt Review
My plate after hitting the buffet!
Yum!
Kids plates
Our friends invited us out for lunch - Awesome them!
Unfortunately due to my Schatzki ring - I spent the majority of the time in the restroom - thankfully I can state the facilities are clean and well kept.
Once my issues quieted down I was able to enjoy the food - the ambiance and some time with family.
I unfortunately lost most of my time with Sarah as she was on a lunch dead line.
Food
Tasty and many varieties
The Lunch Buffet
The salad portion was well stocked for a pizza buffet offering food for adults and children
The pizza portions were kept warm - well stocked and had many varieties.
Service was excellent once the poor staffer got off the phone to the manager on taking our discounted coupons - handled well.
Four star food rating and service!
Burger King - Fast Food Review
Our day started early. I woke and was out the door shortly after 5 am. With kids in tow to pick up the hubby. By 6 am we had a flat tire. 6:30 we finally had the spare on and were once again headed home.
Since our "quick" run to grab papa turned into a very long morning we decided to grab breakfast out - this is a rare occurrence as we are tight on money and really loathe fast food places.
I should have known it was going to be one of those days when at an almost empty Burger King asked us to pull forward - be warned fast food places I will never again comply - a few minutes later they brought out our food. Quickly waving us away. My hubby had quickly checked the food but a large breakfast for 4 people its easy to miss something.
They did and he did. Arriving home we realized that they had forgotten my husbands specialty breakfast sandwich. When he called to complain and get re-reimbursed would they comply? NO.
After ten minutes on the phone with the manager my husband finally tells her - "Fine keep my 3.00 dollars but you lose me as a customer." Thing is fast food places no longer care. They really would rather hold on to a measly 3.00 when they KNEW and AGREED that they had made a mistake and it had been verified, then make a customer happy.
Why? Because they don't care about loyalty they know they are there for convenience. A convenience that is no longer convenient for our family. I will no longer waste my money on such low quality food with no customer service behind it. Next time I will return home and make oatmeal and eggs - its cheaper and quite honestly it TASTES A WHOLE LOT DAMN BETTER!
So buyer beware the BURGER KING off of 3100 S 5600 W in West Valley City, Utah serves cheap food - not made well and will refuse to correct any billing mistakes that THEY make.
I give this company and its employees an F and a big thumbs up on making my really crappy morning that much better!
So far the only two places I know of that serve fast food in the Salt Lake City Area with out screwing up a food order are Arctic Circle and Arby's. Brava to them and BOO to BK.
Training Table
Training Table is one of the best burger businesses in Utah
It would make number one on everyone's board if they served Alcohol.
Since my friends and I don't drink we don't care.
The food is great
and its ALWAYS the same great quality!
The bread flaky and soft
The bacon crispy
each ingredient fresh
My burger of choice is the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger
To keep costs down, you bus your own table and get your food
from the main window after ordering
from a phone by your table.
I love this - conversations are always private
The building always clean
and on mothers day when all other restaurants are packed this one stands empty.
We believe that its because Mothers shouldn't wait on themselves, but that's what my hubby does ;)
***** Stars - if you ever have a chance to eat here - do it!
#2 in the country for best burgers - I think I know what I'm talking about!
P.S Crown Burger is good - will need to post pictures of their food as well next time we eat there!
Naborhood Bakery and Quiche Recipe
I promise I will not often review restaurants here on this food blog I will reserve this for my favorite places and will try to always share a recipe from the restaurant mentioned.
I love this little bakery they make incredible sandwiches! The Naborhood Bakery is a tradition among family and friends. We will go spend the day out shopping and walking around Gardener Village and will always make time for food from this cute little cottage.
I have never been served a tiny portion (even when ordering a half sandwich), it is always clean, the staff friendly and the food amazing! I have been eating at this restaurant for over ten years, closer to fifteen and I have loved every bite!
Ironically the recipe I am going to share for you I have never tried yet - when you find your favorites you tend to stick with them, but this is on my list.
Naborhood's Quiche
1 cup vegetable shortening (do not use butter or lard)
¾ tsp. salt
2 cups flour
¼ cup cold water
  • Put shortening into bowl and add salt and half of flour.
  • Stir with a spoon until ingredients cream together and mixture is smooth and satiny.
  • Add water and remaining flour.
  • Stir until mixture clings together in a ball.
  • Do not be afraid to handle.
  • Roll out as desired (should make 2 shells).
  • Line a 9" pie plate with crust.
Filling:
12 eggs
¼ cup heavy cream
½ cup water
  • Beat eggs, cream and water together.
